Scalise, Michelle (Dunn)

Status: Graduate Student

I am a Geophysics PhD Candidate in the Department of Geological Sciences and Engineering and Nevada Seismological Laboratory at the University of Nevada, Reno. My research utilizes numerical modeling techniques to explore ground motion from earthquakes and explosions for seismic hazard and forensic seismology applications.

Prior to my dissertation research, I received my Bachelor of Science in Earth Science with an emphasis in Geophysics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. During my undergraduate studies, I played Division I water polo and worked at Earth Research Institute assisting with strong motion seismology research.

During my time at UNR, I have had the opportunity to teach Introduction to Geophysics and the Geoscience section of SCI 110 indented for incoming freshman geoscience majors to introduce and reinforce fundamental concepts in geological sciences and connect students to the opportunities available in the College of Science.
